Museum conference coming to capital

National Museum director Andrew Sayers announced yesterday a major conference would be held in Canberra next year, attracting up to 700 delegates. It was his first official duty after being named national president of Museums Australia, the umbrella organisation that advocates for museums and galleries across the nation.

Dr Darryl McIntryre, stepping down as MA President at the MA-AGM last night in Canberra (at the National Gallery), said he was delighted to announce that MA National Council had decided to appoint Andrew Sayers as President of Museums Australia for the forthcoming year - following his own decision to retire early after three years’ leadership of MA - to concentrate more time on his own research projects.
