nvestigators believe Cuming Museum fire started by building contractors

The Cuming Museum fire was caused by roofers using using a blow torch, investigators for the London Fire Brigade (LFB) believe.
 
A report into the incident, completed last month but only now made public, reveals investigators believed that the fire was caused by building work being carried out on the roof.

Stolen antique weapons returned to museum

OFFICERS in Mackay's property squad  return antique rifles and one pistol that were stolen from the Pioneer Valley Museum in March.

THEFT

Former museum employee on stealing charges

A Hobart man has been charged with multiple counts of stealing valuable antiques from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.

The theft of the antiques was first noticed by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery early in 2012.

The items were a part of the Markree collection donated by the late Henry Baldwin in 2008.
