Apologies to Paul for the delay in responding on maNexus. At the National Standards teleconference on 7 September, the work of the MA Publications Ctte was discussed. Members of the National Standards Taskforce agreed to contribute to MA Nexus their perceptions of resource gaps to support the National Standards by October 15. Clare-Frances Craig (WAM) – Section A, Ann Baillie (M&GSQ) – Section B, Sarah-Jane Rennie (MG NSW) – Section C. MA VIC will look at all sections.
The NST encourages anyone with feedback on gaps in supporting resources for any of the National Standards to contribute their perceptions to maNexus.

MA publications committee. At its teleconference on 27 July the committee firmed up plans for: (1) national standards – by contributing comments to the National Standards Taskforce and producing a list of sources identifying gaps and opportunities for MA by Dec 2010; (2) MA printed and online publications – by producing a plan evaluating existing online and printed publications and recommending future titles and distribution mechanisms by Dec 2010; and (3) Museum Methods – by reviewing edition 2 against the national standards and other sources and, if appropriate, preparinga business case for a third edition with funding from the Australian Government or other funding agency, by June 2011. The committee also intends to produce a consolidated report to guide future action by June 2011.

MA Publications Commitee. It is probably worth mentioning in this forum that Museums Australia’s Publications Committee, formed last year, will kick off its deliberations soon. Has a different set of objectives to the maNexus Standards Group, but will very much feed off discussions and suggestions in Standards group. Members of the committee are Andrew Simpson (chair, NSW), Suzanne Bravery (NSW), Jennifer Sanders (NSW, Paul Bentley (committee secretary, NSW), Jane King (WA), Laura Miles/Cassie May (Vic), Bernice Murphy, Lee Scott (MANO), Deborah Beattie and Ann Baillie (M&GSQ). We’re hoping to organise a teleconference within the next couple of weeks. Will provide updates in due course.
